Marija Stojnic, director / creative producer

Marija is an award-winning director and producer whose films blur borders between documentary and fiction, and intersect with other art forms.

She is The New School (MA Media Studies and Film, 2014) in New York, and Academy of Arts (FTV directing, 2010) in Belgrade alumna. Her works exhibit a sophisticated cinematic sensibility and are characteristic for experimentation with sound, an interest derived from her background as a performer/vocalist.

"Speak so I can see you" - her feature length directorial debut, supported by Eurimages and DOHA Film Institute, had its World premiere in First Appearance Competition selection at IDFA 2019, and its US premiere at MoMA's DocFortnight 2020 in New York.

She worked on numerous productions in the USA and Europe and since 2011 her career has been focused on creative documentary. In 2016, Marija founded the production house Bilboke in Serbia.
She is a guest lecturer and a member of DOKSerbia, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in category Film/Video for 2015 and Instituto Sacatar in Brazil film fellow for 2017. She is one of three co-founders of Set Sail Films.

Besides work on her author projects, Marija collaborates as a producer/creative producer with other filmmakers.
